Service Technician


Department: SERVICE
Reports To: SERVICE MANAGER
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Service Technician performs service, maintenance, or repairs on a variety of above ground, in-ground, and commercial pools and related equipment.  Jobs are scheduled by the Service Scheduler and the Service Technician follows the schedule accordingly.  The tasks completed by the Service Technician are regularly performed in the field and thus subject to all weather conditions.  He or she must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, as most jobs are completed at customer’s homes.  The Service Technician reports to the Outside Operations Foreman.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Opens and closes customer pools by completing the following tasks: vacuuming, testing water, adding chemicals, connecting or dis-connecting motor, connecting or dis-connecting hoses, installing or removing ladder, covering or un-covering pool, etc.

  •  Finds and patches leaks in liner pools.

  •  Keeps weekly appointments for routine cleanings.

  •  Replaces or repairs defective pool parts, equipment, and accessories.

  •  Corresponds with Service Manager concerning appointment times and special circumstances.

  •  Creates customer invoice based on time spent and parts used.

  •  Collects payment from customer.

  •  Returns all necessary paperwork to Service Manager.

Education and/or Experience               

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills               

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills               

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability               

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Over 90% of the Service Technician's duties are performed in the field.  He or she must be willing to travel locally every day
