OkC Home and Garden Show 2016
The holidays are behind us and Christmas décor is finally down…thoughts are shifting to spring, summer and much warmer times, and probably for some, if not most of you, the $1.3 billion jackpot drawing tomorrow night!! If you are like me, summer cannot get here soon enough—no sun for a week or so and then a high temp of 30 degrees is not what I consider enjoyable weather. So, to turn our thoughts to summer planning, the OkC Home & Garden Show will be set up at the fairgrounds this weekend, January 15-17. Plenty of booths for you to check out the latest and greatest for your outdoor space—of course, I personally think our booth will be the best, but head out this weekend and take a look!
For the upcoming show, we will have both Country Leisure and Dimension One hot tubs on display—both working models and dry models and consultants on hand to give you all the details you will need to make the best choice to start building your relaxing backyard. We will also have a Barrier Reef Display showcasing their line of fiberglass pools we install. We have a new line of wicker furniture that we will be carrying this summer—Ratana—and we will have a sectional grouping on display for you to take a look at, and additionally some grills and umbrellas that we stock.
In transitioning the thought process from holidays and cold weather to enhancing your outdoor living space, I figured giving you some of the trends we have been seeing at the store lately would help get your creative juices a flowing! The main thing we are seeing and hearing from our customers is the overall custom backyard—not just one component, but the complete overhaul of the existing yard to create your own personal oasis. Custom designed kitchens are becoming very popular—using components from you current home and integrating them into your backyard through the design of the kitchen. Incorporating the colors, stone and tile from inside your home, makes your outdoor space truly feel like an extension of your home and helps it to feel inviting and comfortable—and can potentially be utilized year round.
Splash pads are the next big trend we are seeing a lot of buzz around. They are a great option for both commercial and residential spaces. Since they do not have standing water, they are a safer option for use with younger children, but can be customized to where older children and even adults can enjoy splashing around in the water during the hot Oklahoma days. We are seeing them as great options for daycare facilities, churches—specifically those with a Mother’s Day Out program, Homeowner’s Associations that do not want the liability that comes with a commercial swimming pool but still want a centralized gathering spot for the neighborhood kids and families, and even backyards for those families that do not want the maintenance that comes with a pool, but would love to be able to get out with their kids on a hot summer day. We have partnered with a company that makes a large variety of water features specifically for use in splash pads and additionally, under-ground holding tanks designed for this very purpose to aid in water conservation. We see this as being a very cost effective product for many consumers who just cannot have a pool for whatever reason. And on the flip-side, they can also be added to new pool construction, or tied into an existing pool for those consumers that would like the best of both worlds!
This year, we partnered with the Home & Garden Show, and we are building a custom kitchen, valued at $10,000, that will be raffled off at the end of the show and delivered to one lucky homeowner. This kitchen will come with a Saber 3-Burner Infrared Grill, Saber Refrigerator, and a 3 drawer built in cabinet. It has custom stone and tile work surrounding it, and will be on display throughout the show at the Lifestyle Stage. You can enter for your chance to win at the Lifestyle Stage, and additionally, at our booth in the Centennial Building. We have been posting progress pics of the kitchen on our Facebook page, so be sure to take a look! The show will be going on from noon on Friday through 6 pm on Sunday, so please stop by, take a look at our products, talk to us, and enter to win a fabulous outdoor kitchen!!
